At 8:30 a.m. on July 24th, a multimedia classroom on the campus of Hongguang University of Science and Technology was already packed with over 40 teachers from various departments and institutes. They weren't there for routine work; they were participating in a teacher training course on "Canva AI Teaching Presentation Design," which combines creativity and technology.
The event was led by Steven Yang, a teacher from Creative Media. He guided teachers through the Canva platform, covering everything from presentation layout and color matching to incorporating AI-generated images into lesson plans. The atmosphere was lively and lively, with many teachers exchanging ideas with their colleagues as they experimented, creating a sense of being part of a multidisciplinary creative design class.

Lesson plans are no longer just words: Canva brings design breakthroughs
Teachers learned how to use Canva AI to create presentations and teaching materials. From creating lesson plan templates, adjusting text levels, designing theme covers, to using AI-generated images to create accompanying teaching scenarios, the entire process was simple and intuitive, even requiring no design background. The instructor demonstrated the "three-part lesson plan presentation method" and incorporated themed design exercises, such as creating infographic cards based on "food safety" and transforming "clinical scenarios" into animated presentations.
This method makes the originally boring teaching materials come alive. The design with pictures and texts greatly enhances the attractiveness of teaching, and teachers can also more effectively guide students to focus on learning points.
Group operation site: interactive communication ignites creativity
The most engaging aspect of the course was the interactive, on-site group work. Teachers worked in groups based on subject themes to design materials, ranging from food safety posters to scenario-based simulation videos. Each group demonstrated strong creativity and practicality. One teacher jokingly remarked, "It's my first time discussing typography and color matching with teachers from different departments. It feels so fresh!" Another teacher immediately expressed their desire to apply these ideas in their classes starting next week.
Such exchanges and collaborations not only promote cross-disciplinary learning, but also allow teachers to rethink the “essence of teaching” during the design process.
Student feedback and practical application results
According to a post-event questionnaire, overall satisfaction with the course reached a high of 4.9 points. Among the most popular features were the "AI Image Generation" and "Branding Toolset," which not only allow teachers to quickly create customized teaching materials but also quickly establish a scalable teaching visual system.
Teacher feedback includes: "Previous teaching materials were really boring, but this time I learned how to tell stories with images," "The presentation images have become more layered, making them easier for students to absorb," and "I hope to offer advanced animation or video editing courses in the future." This demonstrates the high level of recognition and anticipation Canva has received from the teaching community.

A new starting point for teaching innovation
This course not only teaches practical skills but also serves as a starting point for teachers to develop their own teaching styles. Design is no longer just the domain of professional designers; it is a crucial tool for every educator to communicate concepts and interpret knowledge. When a textbook is no longer just a collection of text, but instead incorporates visual language and contextualized imagery, student engagement naturally increases.
Extended applications and prospects
After the course ended, many teachers spontaneously formed a Canva lesson plan mutual aid group and began to share their experience and results in lesson plan design. Some units also expressed their plans to promote Canva usage training within the department and establish common visual standards for teaching materials.
In the future, if AI voice explanations and video templates can be integrated, teachers will undoubtedly be even more adept at teaching. The Creative Idea Media team also plans to launch a dedicated teacher-focused course on "Advanced Interactive Presentation and Video Design" by the end of the year, aiming to facilitate more innovative applications in the classroom.
